Do the following 3 things (first one not really necessary)

Tools > Options > Environment > Startup > Select Open Empty Environment.

Edit Hosts file (add this line at end):  127.0.0.1 crl.microsoft.com (hosts file is c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

Internet Explorer: Options/Advance tab. Then scroll to the bottom of the list and uncheck "Check for publisher's certificate revocation".  Actually uncheck both items in that list that have the word "Revocation"
