For spacing of regular menu items create a single menu item called BLANK (all caps).  Only 1 is necessary.   It can be added multiple times to any specific menu group under assign items.  For groups it is a similar concept.   However with groups you would need to create multiple BLANK groups for as many spaces as you wish.
